Nathan Fillion will make his big debut as a Green Lantern in James Gunn’S Superman: Legacy. He will play the Guy Gardener version of the character and it seems he will appear in multiple projects in the DCU as well.
Gunn was recently asked by a fan on social media about the Green Lantern series being announced, Lanterns. The director answered the question, saying, “The Green Lantern show is not separate; Nate will be playing Guy in all parts of the DCU.”
Then it will be fun! Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of Fillion’s Green Lantern than we thought! Finn Wittrock was previously cast as Guy Gardner in a Green Lantern series before it was redeveloped without him.
When the new Gren Lantern series was previously talked about, it was described as “a massive HBO-quality television event. It is already under development. And our vision for that is very similar to “True Detective.” It’s terrestrial. It has two of our favorite Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, lead the True Detective-type, mystery-type leads and play a really big part in the main story that we’re telling through our film and television. So this is a very important show for us.”
Gun also recently explained why he chose to play Guy Gardner’s version of Green Lantern in Superman: Legacy saying, “I especially love the character of JLI, but it also fits the story I’m telling with Legacy.”
Fillion stars in the film together David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabella Merced such as Hawkgirl, e Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific.
The film will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, driven by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Superman: Legacy will launch the film portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It is expected to begin in early 2024, right on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
