The big project that Tom Cruise will work on it later Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part two is the film that will shoot in space. Douglas Liman is set to direct this film and comes from a script written by Christopher McCarrie.

Universal Pictures has committed $200 million to the film’s budget, and both Space X and NASA will be involved in carrying out the production. This will be quite the movie, and Cruise will become the first civilian to take a spacewalk outside the International Space Station during the filming of the movie.

Universal Pictures boss Donna Langley joked, “Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world into space. That’s the plan. We have a big project in development with Tom, which contemplates him doing just that. Take a rocket up to the space station and fire and hopefully be the first civilian to take a spacewalk outside the space station.

It is explained that the film “actually [mostly] takes place on Earth, and therefore the character must go to space to save the day. He therefore describes Cruise’s character as “a down on his luck guy who’s in the position of being the only person who could save the Earth.”

We now have a little update from Cruise to share with you from the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One premiere in New York. When asked about it, Cruise said he didn’t have a production start date set, but “We’ve been working on it diligently and we’ll see where we go.”

As of right now, Cruise is focused on the final realization The showdown part two, before he can start planning his next film. Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie said he and Cruise will immediately return to work on part two as soon as part one’s press tour is complete.

McQuarrie said: “We finish this tour and on our way back to the UK we stop to explore along the way. We leave running as soon as we get back. I’m taking two days off between here and Tokyo and I’m going back to work.”

While I’m excited for more Mission: Impossible movies, I’m ready to watch Cruise blast into space to save the day!
