Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for its upcoming film Wonkawhich is a prequel story to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The film brings us the adventurous origin story of the insanely ridiculous Willy Wonka, who is played by Timothee Chalamet. I hope this ends up being a good movie! I’m just a big fan of Gen Wilderit’s Willy Wonka, and that’s the kind of energy that would be hard for anyone to truly capture.

The film is based on “the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryRoald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, Wonka tells the wonderful story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.

The film comes from writer and director Paul King (Paddington) and is described as a “heady mix of magic and music, chaos and emotion, all told with fabulous heart and humour”. This “irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen show will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, bursting with ideas and determined to change the world one delicious morsel at a time, proving that the best things in life start with a dream, and if you are enough lucky to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.

The film is also the protagonist Cala Lane (The day will come), Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon), Paterson Joseph (Watch), Matthew Luke (Paddington), Matthew Bayton (The wrong men), Sally Hawkins (The shape of water), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Olivia Colmann (The Favourite), Natasha Rothwell (white lotus), Rich Fulcher (Marriage history), Rakhee Thakrar (Four weddings and a funeral), Tom Davis (Paddington 2) AND Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Paddington 2). Oh and Hugh Grant play an Oompa Loompa!
