I have a fun trailer for an upcoming British feel good comedy, called Dave’s bank. The film is based on the true story of Dave Fishwick, who struggled to establish a small community bank. Dave was a working class man and a self made millionaire who just wanted to help other locals. I love these kinds of stories and it looks like it’s going to be a wonderful and inspiring film.
Rory Kinnear he stars in the film as Dave Fishwick, who sells vans in Burnley, Lancashire. “Once the most productive and profitable industrial city in the world, Burnley is now one of the poorest and most neglected cities in the UK. Dave, however, through a combination of frenzy and hard work, has done well for himself, so well that in the wake of the latest financial crisis he has begun lending money at low rates to his clients and local businesses. When some of these companies start making money, they ask Dave to reinvest it for them. This gives Dave an idea. Why not create a small local bank that uses local money to finance local businesses? He will call it: The Bank of Dave. London-based elite financial authorities, however, have not granted a new banking license for over 150 years and are unwilling to grant one to a Burnley van salesman. Dave must enlist the help of a London solicitor, young Dr. Alexandra and some local rock legends to help fight the good cause.
The film was directed by Chris Fogginand is also the protagonist Joel Fry, Jo HartleyAND Phoebe Dynevor, and features music and performances by Def Leppard. Samuel Goldwyn Films will be released Dave’s bank in select theaters on VOD starting August 25, 2023.
