Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen and slim) AND Greta Lee (Russian doll) have joined Jared Leto AND Evan Peters at Disney Tron: Aresthe third installment in Disney’s Tron series.
The film is directed Joachim Ronning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon Tiki), and the film is gearing up to begin shooting in August in Vancouver.
Not much is known about the story, but we do know that it will focus on the emergence of a sentient program that somehow traverses the human world. Leto will assume the role of Ares, which is the manifestation of the Tron program.
Lee is said to be playing a video game programmer and technology CEO in what is being described as the lead role. It is unknown who plays Turner-Smith.
We learned about this recently Tron Creator Steven Lisberger is involved in the film’s development as a consultant, and said, “The Tron team is at work. I’m always at work. It will happen. My goal with these things in playing Obi-Wan is to say the one line that has impact. I try to say something that’s helpful to them without getting into the weeds.”
I just hope this ends up being a big one Tron movie. I wish Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinsky he was directing the movie, but he’s about to do bigger and better things. Disney screwed up when they didn’t greenlight his Tron movie.
