Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Crown, Sex Education) is set to star in Netflix The Abandonswhich was developed by Kurt Sutter (Mayans MC, Sons of Anarchy). I love that these two talents are teaming up to work on a project together! I liked the work they did separately, but they will make a great team!
The action-drama series is set in the West and the story follows “a group of diverse and abnormal families pursuing their manifest destiny in 1850s Oregon when a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them to leave. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls who live on the fringes of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ extends beyond the boundaries of the law”.
The Abandons “will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.”
Anderson will play Constance, “the matriarch of the wealthy Van Ness family who inherited her husband’s mining fortune, then doubled it. Despite the city’s inherent prejudice against women, her money, her charm, and her ruthlessness have created a network of political allies. For her, power, wealth and lineage trump all.”
Yes, this is going to be a fantastic project that Anderson will be a part of. It will be reached by game of Thrones pupil Lena Heady.
Sutter created the series and serves as showrunner and executive producer.
