Rosario Dawson is all right with Ahsoka’s role in the Star Wars universe and doesn’t want it to end for her. She made her big debut as the live-action version of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian Season 2 and will be back for his own Disney+ series with Star Wars: Ahsoka and he doesn’t want his journey as a character to end there.
During a recent interview with Total Film magazine, Dawson was asked if she sees much more to explore with the character, and she said:
“I mean, I do, and I hope so [Filoni] does. I’m really in awe of Dave’s journey, and I’m so happy for him and proud of him. I loved him as a fan, and now, having had the chance to be on set with him every day and work with him, and pick his brain, and he’s my personal encyclopedia for all things Star Wars and beyond — it was just a marvel.”
I love that Dawson is so invested in this character and wants to keep it going for as long as possible. I’m sure he will be there at least for the journey, for the entire Star Wars movie that Filoni is developing. That’s where the whole story of her from the New Republic era is headed. Dawson went on to praise Filoni, saying:
“I think he’s one of the greatest I’ve ever worked with in this medium and space, and I hope he continues to take Ahsoka with him. Because he’s been very loyal to her over the years, and she to him. This is I’m not leaving anytime soon.So any kind of way and iteration where I can continue to work with Dave, be inspired by him, and challenge him when I can, that would be great.
Ahsoka has been a fan-favorite character ever since she was introduced to the Star Wars universe as Anakin Skywalker’s teenage apprentice. You have embarked on a wild journey and that journey will become even more exciting and interesting.
Its subsequent story picks up where the animated series, Star Wars Rebels, left off. He finds himself once again teaming up with Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and more as they continue their journey to find Ezra. They are also looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is with Ezra.
In an interview with Empire it was explained that Ahsoka will find a new purpose in the story. She doesn’t consider herself a Jedi, and speaking of her character and where she is now with her life, Filoni previously said:
“She’s a drifter at this point and is in many ways wary of any organization as such because of the power that comes with it as a group. She walks a path that basically died out a long time ago, and there aren’t many like her left, if any. So it’s a lonely thing. How is that life? If you are a loner, you have a very small circle of friends. What is it like, then, when you try to open yourself up again?
Mary Elizabeth Winstead he’s also set to star in the series and will play Hera Syndulla, and the droid, Chopper, also returns. Also, we have Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ivanna Sakhno, Eman Esfandi like EzraAND Ray Stevenson. The limited series is written by Filoni who serves as executive producer along with Jon Favreau AND Kathleen Kennedy.
The series will debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
