VELMA officially renewed for season 2 on Max

The animated series inspired by Scooby-Doo Velma has been officially renewed for a second season. While the animated series was looked down upon by many people, many people also tuned in to watch it, some liked it, while others showed up to watch it in hate.

I guess that’s not surprising Velma I had a second one because a report surfaced a few months ago that it was already in the works. I was hoping that report was wrong, but no… it was true. No one forces us to watch it, though!

The announcement was made at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival by Susanna Makkos, executive vice president of original comedy and adult animation for Max and Adult Swim, during his “Share With” session. She said:

“The series we create at Max are art- and voice-driven, with character and comedy coming before all else. We’re always looking for tough comedies with heart and edge, diverse and inclusive entertainment with an underlying thematic resonance, and character design that showcases the artist’s hand. I’m so excited to share these amazing series with the world and continue to show why Max is a great home for adult animation.

The series tells an origin story of Velma Dinkley and the gang of Mystery Inc. But I will say that the series is definitely set in an alternate universe because there is nothing in this show that captures the spirit of the original Scooby-Doo gang. This show is just mean and it wasn’t funny. It also has a 7% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Mindy Kaling she developed the series and also voices Velma and joined her Constance Wu like Daphne, Sam Richardson such as Shaggy, e Glen Howton like Fred. Other cast members include Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Stefano Root, Gary Cole, Ken Leung, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Fortune Feimster, Yvonne Orji, Saraju blue, Nicole Byer, Ming Na Wen, Shay Mitchell, Debby Ryan, Kulap VilaysakAND Karl-Anthony Towns.

Kaling also serves as an executive producer alongside Howard Klein and Sam Register.
