After Fast X was released in theaters, one of the most talked about aspects of the film was Jason Momothe performance of Dante Reyes. Many fans loved the character and believed she brought something new to the franchise, and many fans thought she was the best part of the film.
As the love for Momoa spread across the internet, a report surfaced Vin Diesel he was not happy with the character’s portrayal of Momoa. Diesel reportedly said Momoa was “overdoing it” in the film and blamed the actor for the negative reviews. Diesel was not happy with Momoa being praised as the film’s only bright spot.
A source said, “Vin is embarrassed that Jason has been labeled the only bright spot in the film and is stealing the show in the franchise he built himself.” Insiders are also saying that Diesel is telling people that Momoa’s “over the top” and “scene-stealing” nature was a factor in the negative reviews and undermined the film.
Diesel hasn’t shared a social media post offering a few kind words about Momoa while also confirming the release date for Fast X: Part 2. He said:
“April 4, 2025…less than 22 months to go. I love how expressive and collaborative all the actors in our franchise feel as they enter the World’s Saga. Jason wanted to try something totally unique and special and ended up creating a scene that steals character that the world will never forget. Thank you all for introducing yourself as you always do…. 7 billion means nothing if it doesn’t represent the true feeling of family and loyalty. For those who did not know the FastX it was only the first part, know that part two will be an effort from our family and studio as fast as you’ve ever seen. All love,” Diesel wrote. Momoa replied, “All aloha ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ best moments. mahalo for taking your chance with me boss.” You can check out her post below:

Momoa has previously spoken about the character and came up with the character’s style of how he would be portrayed in the film saying:
“Yeah, I really weigh a lot on the wardrobe and the props. It’s my lack of acting skills where I really need their help. I really built a lot of this wardrobe with obviously a costume designer, but I just had a lot of ideas , what I wanted . I was really inspired by pastel colors. I wanted something that was warm and inviting and then when you approached him, you were like, ‘This is the devil and the devil tricked me.’ So that was pretty much the idea.”
Momoa continued:
“They weren’t that keen on letting me have a lavender car. I think [producer] Neil [Moritz] he was like, ‘No, we’re not doing lavender.’ I’m like, ‘Dude, we have to do this. I want lavender.’ And they moved. The whole thing behind lavender is that my mother absolutely despises that color and I absolutely adore that color. I just use it to get under my mother’s skin and it just makes us laugh. So I call him Yaya Lavender and then I get all my nails done like that. So I’m thrilled that she sees me in pink and purple, and it’ll just make her cringe. So that brings me a lot of joy.”
