Marvel Studios has launched a viral marketing campaign for its upcoming Disney+ series Secret invasion. They launched a secret viral marketing website that is no longer a real secret called TheInvasionHasBegun.com.
On that site is a 5 minute clip of the series, but a secret password is required to access the site and the clip, and that password is no longer a secret either. Marvel was releasing password clues about their official Twitter account. They would post the clues and then quickly delete them. They included snapshots of a bulletin board filled with photos and clues, and some letters highlighted.
Marvel fans quickly put the pieces together and figured out that the password is: RSD3PX5N7S. Then, all you have to do is enter that password on the site and you’re good to go, you can watch the clip, which is also followed by an extended teaser.
The clip is centered on Martin FreemannAgent Everett Ross meeting a frantically uncomfortable Prescod agent (Riccardo Dormer) that appears to be hiding. He’s sharing conspiracy theories about how the different wars that have taken place on Earth seem too coordinated, leading him to say that all of this is due to a Skrull invasion.
This story is set in the current MCU, “Nick Fury (Samuel L.Jackson) learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an impending Skrull invasion and save humanity.
The series is also starring Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulder, Martin Freemann, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneranwith Emilia Clarke, Olivia ColmannAND Don Cheadle.
Based on Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francesco Yu, Marco MoralesAND Laura Martin’S comic series, Secret Invasion is produced by Kyle Bradstreet (Mister Robot), with the director of Let Him Go Thomas Bezucha AND Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) set as administrators.
Secret invasion will premiere June 21, exclusively on Disney+.
