It is reported that the production of the sequel Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part two it closed during the Hollywood writers’ strike. Empire (via /Film) reports that the film is roughly 40 percent completed, but the current strike has prevented things from going any further at this time with the report specifically noting that the month-long strike halted the writer and director of the film Christopher McCarrie “on his trail” and marks the biggest delay on the Mission Impossible movies from the 2020 pandemic.
McQuarrie said of the setback, “It’s inexorable. Behind every tsunami is another tsunami. We live in a state of 24-hour tsunami awareness. That’s just what we do.”
The showdown starts first is canned and hits theaters July 12. Part Two has a current theatrical release date of June 28, 2024, but we’ll have to wait and see how far this delay will set production back. It’s one of many movies and series waiting for the strike to end in order to move forward, so hopefully it will clear up quickly. We will keep you updated.
