The 2008 movie Iron man it was Marvel’s kickoff to what became a worldwide cinematic empire known to fans as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film introduced us to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and what we’ve come to expect from every Marvel movie now, the post-credits scene. This one specifically introduced SHIELD Agent Nick Fury (Samuel L.Jackson), which gave us the idea that we were about to enter the world of superheroes. It was amazing!
But the movie was the first of its kind in this new sprawling superhero network, and while it was definitely forward-thinking, it still had some rough edges to iron out. And apparently one of those rough spots was a couple of deleted scenes that were never released.
Producer Jeremy Latcham recently sat down with ScreenRant to talk about his latest film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesand talked about these never-before-seen scenes, saying:
There are still three or four deleted scenes from [Iron Man] which I don’t think will ever come out because they were so bad. I remember Kevin telling me in 2012, when I was like, “Should we put out the deleted scenes of Abu doing laundry?” And Kevin said: “No. We can never put Abu to do the laundry. People will know that we don’t know what we are doing. It will be embarrassing if they see these scenes.” But there was a whole runner in Iron Man where Tony Stark did his laundry and I don’t think they ever came out.
Someone should investigate, but I don’t think they were ever seen. Tony is doing the laundry for the jailers, but he’s actually breaking the washing machine and stealing parts from it to build the Mark 1 suit. He’s so absurd. It’s wild.
Those scenes actually don’t sound that bad. I wonder why the head of the MCU Kevin Feige he is so attached to them. They don’t look amazing or anything, but his contempt for them makes me curious how bad they are! Maybe we’ll see them one day, but apparently it won’t be soon.
