Chris Hemsworth He’s done his fair share of big action movies, many of them for Marvel Studios. It’s safe to say he knows his way around the block when it comes to certain stunts and fight sequences, but the actor says the stunts he had to pull off in his upcoming action thriller Extraction 2 they are the most brutal I have ever faced.
A couple of trailers have already been released for Extraction 2, and the movie looks pretty damn awesome! It looks so much better than the first film and the footage teases some intense action and fight scenes, one of which included Hemsworth being set on fire! During an interview with Total Film, the actor talked about stunt work and how difficult it was for him:
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m not exaggerating. At the end of a take, you suck in air like you’ve never done before, and everyone drops to their knees. But it’s so much more rewarding. I’d like to take this style and integrate it in a Marvel movie, if I ever make another.”
There was one sequence in particular that he found extremely difficult for him. It’s a 21-minute one-shot scene, which you can see in Extraction 2 trailer, and follows his character Tyler Rake as he breaks a woman out of jail. “First he fights his way through a labyrinth of stone corridors. Then through a prison yard. Then his waiting vehicle is chased by multiple armored jeeps at high speeds. And then he boards a speeding train and fights in and on top of it as helicopters swoop and land on the speeding locomotive, unloading fire and goons. Hemsworth added:
“He was like, ‘I don’t know if I can get to the end of this round. It’s like a boxing match: ‘When is the bell going to ring? When are they going to call the cut?'”
“I couldn’t get a stunt double in there and do any of these, because it’s me all in the camera and there’s no hiding behind the edits. So I had this physical therapist on set who was called The Wizard. He would see me sit there and I start leaning in a different way. He would pick me up and pull me aside and quickly dig his hands into my back and shoulder or whatever, and send me back out there. I’d go home and he’d go right into the ice bath , in the sauna and physiotherapy.Some anti-inflammatory pills.And then back out there.
Now, it looks like it would be a great time to make a movie! I love these kind of movies, the ones where the actors really go through the madness of filming the real action sequences. Hemsworth would have been a perfect fit for those 80s action stars. Extraction 2 It’s a movie I’m definitely excited about!
In the film, “After barely surviving the events of the first film, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: to rescue the abused family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held “.
The film was directed by a stuntman turned director Sam Hargraveand former Marvel directors Joe AND Anthony Russo they are producing. Hemsworth is joined in the film by Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel BernhardtAND Tinatin Dalakishvili.
Extraction 2 will arrive on Netflix on June 16, 2023.
