Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) will star in Lionsgate’s upcoming action-comedy film The Assassin’s Game. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Jay Bonansingaand will be directed by JJ Perry (Day shift).
The Assassin’s Game follows “veteran assassin Joe Flood (Bautista), who is diagnosed with a life-threatening disease and allows himself to kill himself to avoid the pain that is bound to follow. After ordering the killing, he discovers he’s been misdiagnosed and must fend off the army of former colleagues trying to kill him.
Okay, looks like it’s going to be a fun action movie! I like the concept and this will be a great role for Bautista. The actor is done with Marvel and is ready to focus on the next chapter of his acting career.
The script of the film comes from Rand Ravic AND Simone Kinberg (X-Men franchise), with James Coine having done some recent rewrites.

We believe The Killer’s Game is the perfect mix of action and comedy, and right now there’s no one better to thread that needle than Dave Bautista. We can’t wait to get started.”
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President Nathan Kahane said, “Andrew and Steve brought us a package we couldn’t refuse. We anticipate strong interest from the market and are confident that its mix of bold action, star power and entertaining writing will excite audiences everywhere.”
Production on the film will begin this summer.
