Park Chanwookit’s a brutal thriller Old boy turns 20 this year, and to celebrate, the film is getting a new facelift. The restoration comes from NEON and will hit theaters later this year! A trailer and poster for the film has been released, which you can check out below.

This will mark the first time Park’s film has been shown on the big screen since its initial release on November 21, 2003. I remember the first time I saw this film and was completely blown away by it. The way the story unfolded was incredibly shocking!

Oldboy tells the story of Oh Dae-su (Choi Minsik), a man mysteriously imprisoned for 15 years in a small room without any explanation. After being suddenly released, he embarks on a mission to uncover the reasons behind his imprisonment and take revenge on those responsible. On the way he meets Mi-do (Kang Hye-jung), a young woman who aids him in his quest for revenge.

Park Chan-wook uses a unique visual style that beautifully blends elements of neo-noir, horror and thriller genres, creating a cinematic experience that is both haunting and exhilarating. The story is complex and intricate, with multiple twists and turns that keep the audience engaged and guessing until the very end.

It will be nice to see this film on the big screen again!
