James Gunn thinks a crossover between Marvel and DC could happen in 10 years

In a previous interview, Gunn spoke about the possibility of a crossover, saying that this is something that has actually been discussed: “I’m sure it’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC]. Who knows? It will take many years, but… I think we need to establish what we are doing [at DC] First. I’d be lying to say we haven’t discussed it. But all the discussions were very, very light and fun.”

So if this crossover does eventually happen, when can we expect it? In a recent interview with Deadline, Gunn said it’s something that will happen in 10 years. He said:

“I think it would look like something that will happen in about 10 years. Not today, because we have a lot of other DC movies that we have to tell. But yeah, I think it could be cool.

A couple of years ago Gunn was asked about the possibility, and he said, “I’ve been casually talking about it with the powers that be at both Marvel and DC. I wish that would happen. I don’t think it’s likely, but I also don’t think it’s impossible. THAT SAID, seeing crossovers and mashups constantly is less glamorous to me than a strong story.

With both franchises now playing across the multiverse, the door is open for a crossover. The big question is, what would that strong story be? There are so many directions something like this could go, with many different combinations of characters. I’d be interested to see what Gunn and Feige would have come up with if that actually happened! What would you like to see?
