Joe Russo revealed this information himself while a guest on the Smartless podcast. He said:

“We love Star Wars. There have been early conversations, there have been some early conversations with us. Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan, and there have been some early conversations about partnering with Kevin to make Star Wars.”

I have no doubt that Feige, Waldron and the Russos would have been great Star Wars movie. There are no story details, but it would have explored new people and places in that universe. Feige previously said, “I love that world and I love the idea of exploring new people and new places in that universe. But that’s pretty much all that can be said for now.

Addressing Kevin Feige’s project, Kennedy said during Star Wars Celebration that “it was something heralded by the press, or I guess, fandom.” But the news about Feige came from the Disney CEO Bob Igerand co-chairs of the firm Alan Hornthus it was not heralded by the “fandom” “press” as Kennedy claims.

Horn explained that Kennedy “is pursuing a new era Star Wars storytelling and knowing that Kevin is a die-hard fan, it made sense for these two amazing producers to work on a Star Wars film together”.

Kennedy went on to say, “But nothing was ever developed. We have never discussed an idea. Everyone knows Kevin is a huge Star Wars fan. If something had been invented, I’d be all ears. But that never really happened, so it’s not an abandoned project. It just never really happened.”

However, it was also reported at the time that Feige pitched his idea to Kennedy, Iger and Horn. So, I don’t know why Kennedy is saying this project never actually came to fruition because there is so much evidence that it was actually in development and progress.

Regardless, the project was squashed. Maybe one day we’ll find out what kind of story they were trying to tell. However, a few Star Wars movie projects have been announced recently, including a new movie featuring Daisy Ridleyis King, Dave FiloniThe movie “big event” of is connected to the universe of The Mandalorian, James Mangoldthe film about the discovery of the Force, and Taika Waititi he is still developing his film.
