This is a strong writing team and Hodson is in high demand in Hollywood right now as she is working on several high profile film projects. It will be interesting to see what they end up bringing to the franchise in its final chapter. It turns out that the two writers are friends and share an office space with each other, so the fact that they’ve been hired to work together makes sense.

There are no details on the final chapter of the franchise, but the plot will be set in Fast X. The two are complementary pieces, a two-part grand finale of over-the-top action epic! When the creative team was developing the last 10th film, it got so big that they decided to split the story into two separate films.

The two films were originally supposed to be shot back-to-back, but of course that all changed when original director Justin Lin exited the project over creative differences. Leterrier previously said these upcoming films are “the sum of everything we love about the Fast and Furious universe.”

Here is the synopsis:

Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast & Furious saga, launches the final chapters of one of cinema’s most legendary and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same cast and characters as when it began.

Over the course of many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outwitted, unnerved and defeated every foe in their path. Now they face the deadliest adversary they have ever faced: a terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past, fueled by a blood feud, and who is determined to tear this family apart and destroy everything – and everyone – that Dom loves, forever. . .

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took down nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and beheaded his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa) witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years hatching a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s revenge.

Fast X was written by Justin Lin (F9) AND Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans). Fast X stars returning cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle RodriguezTyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena AND Scott Eastwoodwith Elena Mirren AND Charlize Theron.

The film also features new cast members including Brie Larson as Tess, a rogue representative of the Agency; Alan Ritchson (Reach) as Aimes, the new head of the Agency who doesn’t have the same passion for the Dom crew as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody; Daniela Melchior (The suicide squad) as a Brazilian street racer with a strong connection to Dom’s past; AND Rita Moreno like Abuelita Toretto from Dom and Mia.

Fast X will be released on May 19, 2023.
