Today is a sad day in Wisconsin because Aaron Rogers will no longer be a member of Green Bay Packers. After seventeen years with the team, Aaron, 38, will reattach his green and yellow jersey and join the New York Jets, ESPN Senior NFL pundit Adam Schefter reported April 24. According to Adam, the Packers will send the quarterback to New York in exchange for a number of draft picks, including two second-round picks. Adam Schefter reported that Aaron will go from number 12 to number 8 when he officially arrives in New York.
Aaron’s future in Green Bay has become a hot topic following the Packers’ elimination from the 2022 NFL playoffs. Aaron started the 2021-22 season locked with the Packers under his current contract and ESPN reported that the 2023 season would be canceled in his contract. The team also agreed not to exercise the franchise mark on him, allowing Aaron to enter free agency at the end of the season.
About returning to Los Angeles following Green Bay’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, NFL.com Ian Rapport reported that Aaron stayed in Green Bay for a few more days “to map out the future of the team, meeting with the coach Matt LaFleur e others and map out what comes next. Rapoport said his sources said the organization was “cautiously optimistic” that Aaron would return to the Packers.
However, fans and quarterbacks alike realized Aaron’s time in Green Bay was drawing to a close when the Packers’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett became the new coach of the Denver Broncos. Their working relationship led many to believe that Aaron would continue that working relationship all the way to Mile High Stadium. The Broncos will also have about $47.6 million in cap space this season, according to Spotrac, allowing Aaron to earn a decent salary.
Adding fuel to the “Aaron Rodgers for Denver” fire was the fact that he sold his San Diego home for $5.13 million, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette. Aaron, a California native, also has homes in Hobart and Malibu.

The Packers drafted Aaron in the 2005 NFL Draft and he has remained with the team ever since. Although Rodgers amassed numerous accolades and personal bests during his time with the team, he has only played in one Super Bowl: Super Bowl XLV, in 2011. He and the Packers won that game, but have not been to the Big Dance since .
“I think some of the factors are the direction of the team and the organization and how fit I feel going forward,” Rodgers said. The Pat McAfee Show in January 2022, for Sports illustrated. “Mentally do I still have the passion, the competitiveness, the desire to continue playing? I think it’s a feeling, and you know when the off season started. When you are a hyper-competitive individual, you dream or even think about what the ending of the fairy tale is. It doesn’t necessarily mean the Super Bowl, but it’s a great story.”
