THE Speed franchise has had fans talking for decades, with the first film released in 1994 and a not-so-good sequel hitting the screen in 1997. The first film is so good, and its stars have remained positive figures in Hollywood, it seems with all the remakes and sequels from years past, it would be very nice to revisit. Keanu Reeves he’s said over the years that he’d be open to returning for a sequel, even as recently as last week.

So what would a third film look like? The screenwriter of the first film, Graham Yostwas asked this question recently, and he hilariously joked to ComicBook:
“I think what Keanu said was, ‘If the script was good enough,’ and that’s what it really boils down to. I mean, what do you do? My old line for Speed 3 it was, ‘This time, it’s 60,’ and that was it. Just a little faster, but it’s still the same damn thing. And everyone involved is in their 60s. It’s like when you see John Wick; each is basically the same movie, but they are great. I like them, they are brutal.”
So only 10 miles faster, but the same stars, the same city bus, the same serial bomber, but this time without Dennis Hopper like the bad guy, as he sadly passed away in 2010.
The funny part is that people would watch it! I know I would! But I hope they come up with something new. With Reeves willing to return, I know someone will eventually jump on it, and when he does, we’ll let you know all the details.
