Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the inspiring WWII survival film White bird, based on the graphic novel of the same name. The film is the protagonist Gillian Anderson AND Elena Mirren and tells the story of Giuliano (Bryce Gheisar), “who has struggled to belong since being expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman.” In an effort to transform her life, Julian’s grandmother (Mirren) shares her story of courage, about how during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy protected her from mortal danger.

In the film, “they find first love in a fantastical magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother (Anderson) risks everything to keep her safe.” It is described as “an uplifting film about how an act of kindness can live forever.”
The film is directed by Marc Forster (In search of neverland AND Christopher Robin). It is part of the Wonder franchise and was previously titled White bird – a wonderful story. If you like a good uplifting and enjoyable movie that will piss you off, White Bird is the movie for you!
White Bird will be released in theaters on August 25, 2023.
