Wicked Movie Musical: Director Jon M. Chu Gives First Look at Ariana Grande’s Glinda & Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba

There is still a long way to go Bad The movie hits theaters and director Jon M. Chu teases the musical and releases the film’s first footage.

Chu shared some photos on Instagram where we can see Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.

You haven’t told the whole story. What happens if you veer off the Yellow Brick Road?” Chu captioned the social media post.

In a second post, Chu added: “Green and pink. It always starts with green and pink.”

In one Follow up message on TwitterChu shared his excitement about the movie’s release by tweeting, “These two women have already changed me forever… #CynthiaErivo & #ArianaGrande as the Witches of Oz. They will lift your spirits, break your heart and leave you speechless late.” with their voices. So excited to introduce you to our world… There is so much more to come…”

The film’s cast also includes Bowen Yang, Keala Settle, Marissa Bode, Brownwyn James, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater and Jonathan Bailey.

As production began on the Broadway musical adaptation, Chu took to social media to announce that the story would be split into two films.

“When we tried to trim songs or shorten characters, those decisions felt like fatal compromises with the source material we’d worked with for so many years,” Chu said in an open letter on Instagram. “So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and not make one Bad Movie only TWO!!!! With more space we can tell the story Bad how it should be told, while adding even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.

Bad falls on Wednesday 27 November 2024.
