Power Rangers is one of the most iconic franchises in youth entertainment. Since their creation in 1993, they have been a TV series, toy, video game, film and more. But one question that many fans ask is How many generations of Power Rangers have there been? Then we explore the evolution of the Power Rangers over the years and how the 8 that are so far were built.

The first generation of Power Rangers started in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The series centered on a group of teenagers who became Power Rangers to fight the evil Rita Repulsa and her minions. The series was an instant success and spawned a large amount of merchandise, including toys and apparel. There was also a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie in 1995 which was a moderate success at the box office.

The second generation started in 1996 with Power Rangers Zeos. This series continued the story of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but introduced a new set of suits and zords for the Rangers. Zeo was followed by Power Rangers Turbo in 1997, which introduced a new cast of characters and vehicles. The series was quite successful, but not like the first seasons.

The third generation started in 1998 with Power Rangers in space. This series featured a new set of Rangers and a more powerful villain than ever before. At the time, the franchise was experiencing some weariness, but the series was successful enough to keep it going. After Into Space came Power Rangers Lost Galaxy in 1999 and Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue in 2000.

This series featured Tommy Oliver, the original Green Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, as a mentor to a new group of Rangers. The series was successful and was followed by Power Rangers SPD in 2005 and Power Rangers Mystic Force in 2006.

The sixth generation started in 2007 with Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. This series introduced a new set of Rangers to search for ancient artifacts to prevent them from being used by the villain. The series was followed by Power Rangers Jungle Fury in 2008 and Power Rangers RPM in 2009.

What if there was a Power Rangers reunion?

If a generation of Power Rangers reunited, it would not be considered a new generation per se, but rather a special reunion of the actors and characters who were part of that previous generation, as will happen with the special that Netflix has prepared to celebrate 30 years . years of the series.

These reunions are common in the entertainment industry, especially in television and film where cast members of popular series or movies get together to celebrate their legacy and reconnect with fans.

In the case of the Power Rangers, these reunions might include a special episode, movie, or live event, where actors who played Rangers from a previous generation would come together to interact with characters from a current generation, or just to reminisce his past adventures.

A reunion would not be considered a new generation of Power Rangers, but rather a celebration of previous generations, as was the case with ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Yesterday, Today and Forever’ which will premiere in April 2023 via Netflix, with most of the original Rangers.
