Margot Robbie shares her first reaction after seeing the Barbie script and was skeptical that the studio would even let them do the film.
“When I first used it Barbie Script, my reaction was, ‘Oh! That’s right. Shame it will never see the light of day,” she told BAFTA. “Because they will never let us make this movie.”

Robbie couldn’t say more about the story about it Barbie and remained mum when asked about the script.
Greta Gerwig co-wrote the script and is directing. In November 2022, she spoke about how the “terrifying” experience of writing the script was.
“It was scary. I think it’s something to start from the point where it’s like, ‘Well, anything is possible,'” Gerwig told Dua Lipa on her podcast. At your service. “When I started writing it, it felt like dizziness. Like where do you even begin? What would the story be?”
