Open Road has unveiled a new trailer for Gerard Butler’s action thriller Kandaharwhich is slated for a Memorial Day weekend release on May 26.
The film reunites Butler with director Ric Roman Waugh after their collaboration on Lionsgate’s 2019 action thriller angel fell and the 2020 action thriller from STXfilms Greenland finds undercover CIA agent Tom Harris (Butler) trapped deep in enemy territory in Afghanistan. With his mission exposed, he and his Afghani translator must make their way to an extraction point in Kandahar while evading elite enemy troops and foreign spies tasked with tracking them down.
Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh wrote the screenplay for the film, which also stars Navid Negahban (The cleaning lady), Ali Fasal (Death on the Nile), Travis Fimmel (Raised by wolves) and Elnaaz Norouzi (Tehran). The producers of the project included Basil Iwanyk, Brendon Boyea, Erica Lee, Butler, Alan Siegel, Christian Mercuri, Ali Jaafar and Scott LaStaiti.
