Confirmed! Disney will make Moana live action with Dwayne Johnson: ‘Maui changed my life’

Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as the legendary demigod Maui in the upcoming Disney adaptation of Moana! The news was confirmed during a shareholders’ meeting of The Walt Disney Company by the managing director Bob Igerwho shared a video in which “The Rock” announced his participation in the live action film.

Moana, the 2016 animated film set in Polynesia, will follow in the footsteps of other Disney productions that have been adapted to the live-action format, with the recently confirmed ‘Lilo and Stitch’. The film will be produced by Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, Beau Flynn’s Flynn Picture Co and others, and the screenplay will be written by Jared Bush, director and co-writer of ‘Enchantment’ and ‘Zootopia’, as well as screenwriter of the original film by ‘Moana’.

Furthermore embodying the Maui character, Dwayne Johnson will also serve as a producer from the live action movie ‘Moana’. Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the lead in the original film, will also be involved in the production as an executive producer, reportedly. Variety.
