Ray Romano to Play College Hoops Coach Jim Valvano in Biopic

Special: Ray Romano will star and present in a new movie about the extraordinary life of American basketball coach and broadcaster Jim Valvano.

The script will be written by Jim Straws, with subtitles included. grace is gone Y winning season. Romano will be produced by Basil Ivanik, Greg Economou and Game1’s Mark Kiard (Novice). The Valvano family provides the main resources for the film, which will be undertaken by the producer.

Jimmy V’s life is an incredible story filled with courage and optimism in the face of great opportunity. It begins with Valvano’s meteoric rise as a coach, including his incredible run with the Wolfpack in North Carolina to the 1983 NCAA Championship. The team won at the last second with the heavy favorites of the Houston Cougars, who had NBA all-time greats Hakim Olajon and Clyde Drexler on their roster.

Valvano’s optimism was not affected even when he was diagnosed with cancer. His courageous response to fate was reflected in his inspiring “Never Give Up” speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards, when he was terminally ill. Besides the absence of dry eyes at home, the momentum was almost exclusively inspired by the disease-fighting movement. As one of the biggest supporters of cancer research in the United States, he helped found the V Foundation, which raised more than $300 million. Valvano died in 1993.

“We couldn’t be more excited to finally tell my father’s story in film, especially with Ray Romano and the partners at Game1,” said Jamie Valvano, the middle daughter of Jim and Pam Valvano. “We have one of the greatest stories of all time and we are excited to share it with the rest of the world.”

Game1 co-star Ivanik said: “Jimmy V was not only one of the best college basketball coaches of this generation, but also one of the most inspiring and influential in his efforts to eradicate cancer. “Ray is a great choice not only to help produce this movie, but also to play Jimmy V.”

Romano said, “Jim Valvano has always been an inspiration to me. I look forward to working with the team from Game 1 and the Valvano family to bring Jim’s incredible story and legacy to the screen.”
