SCRATCH YOUR ENTHUSIASM Probable end with Season 12 on HBO

The upcoming 12th season of HBO’s longest running scripted series, Curb your enthusiasm, is probably the last. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that season 12, which wrapped production last week, wrapped up with a “final episode” that “felt like a homecoming.”

Jon Hayman, writer and producer of To brakeshared in a later-deleted tweet a photo of himself with the show’s creator and star, Larry David, and executive producer Jeff Schaffer filmed what he called the final episode. He wrote: “Maybe you love the show. Maybe you hate the show. Maybe you don’t give a fuck. In any case, shooting the last scene of the last episode of the last season.

To brake co-star Richard Lewis also tweeted about filming his last scene of the series, saying, “Here’s a few hours ago in my trailer on location shooting my last scene of #curb12,” he wrote. “Hard to believe we started in 2000. The cast and crew all knew we were working for a genius. When that rarity happens, no one ever takes a moment for granted. We love you LD.

While this all sounds very definitive, it is well known that HBO has long had an open door policy To brake, and defer to the creator and play out whether or not David wants to come back. As his longtime collaborator, Schaffer previously explained that each season is always the last, until David creatively decides he has more ideas.

A source says David’s current deal with HBO expired this year, so if he decides to return to To brake — which he has done in the past — would require him to sign a new pact with HBO.

When announcing the season 12 renewal, David had this to say about his decades-long, Emmy-winning role:

“Playing the role of Larry David has been the greatest honor of my life. In researching this multitalented and multi-talented man, I’ve discovered that there’s more to him than I ever could have imagined: He speaks six languages, pickles his own pickles, and leads a national movement to install a bidet in every home. . I have also been told by numerous sources that he is the most generous of lovers. I am so excited to once again transform into this force of nature. I just pray I can do him justice.

Larry David has created yet another brilliant comedy series in his post-Seinfeld career. I know if this is the last season, it’s going to be great, and we have 12 full seasons to go back and enjoy it. But if he has more ideas up his sleeve in the next few years, we’ll be here for that too!
