After picking up the critically acclaimed film Jonathan Majors Magazine Dreams Alongside Sundance, Searchlight has scheduled the Elijah Bynum-directed title to hit theaters on December 8; a date that coincides exactly with the launches of the classic label’s past awards season.
Searchlight beat out Neon, Sony Pictures Classics and HBO in this furious drama in which Majors portrays a deranged amateur bodybuilder. The picture, also written by Bynum, follows Killian Maddox (Majors) as he struggles to find human connection in this confrontation with fame and violence. Nothing stops him from his meticulous dream of becoming a superstar in the bodybuilding world, not even the doctors who warn him of the lasting damage he is doing to himself in his quest. In addition to Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page and Harriet Sansom Harris, the film also stars Taylour Paige and Haley Bennett. Jennifer Fox, Dan Gilroy, Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman produce. EPs headline, under his production banner Tall Street Productions, Luke Rodgers and Andrew Blau.
Majors recently starred in the Marvel Studios hit in early 2023 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which grossed over $464 million worldwide. In the photo, he plays the new MCU villain Kang the Conqueror.
The picture won this year’s US Special Dramatic Jury Award at Sundance.
