Argentina 1985

Nominated for Best international film at the Oscars, we have ‘Argentina 1985’, directed by Santiago Mitre, and starring the expert Ricardo Darín. The story is set in the 80s, where a group of lawyers investigates and tries to bring those responsible for the civil-military dictatorship that governs the country to court.

Triangle of sadness

The film that many have wondered how it got to the Oscars, even if it is not necessarily a bad film, is ‘Triangle of Sadness’, by Robert Östlund. This dark comedy follows an internet celebrity couple invited onto a luxury cruise ship, where the entire crew is well-groomed, but the captain refuses to say goodbye. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

What was until recently known as “the most awarded film of all time”, and surpassed by the aforementioned ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, is ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’, by Peter Jackson. The conclusion of the epic trilogy that adapted JRR Tolkien’s novels and which only increases its classic status as time goes on.

The avenger

Finally, the film that gave Leonardo DiCaprio his first Oscar and with which Alejandro González Iñarritu established himself as one of the best modern filmmakers at work, “The Revenant”. The 3-time Oscar-winning story is inspired by the true events of Hugh Glass, who was attacked by a bear and left for dead by his fellow explorers.
