Parker Finnthe director of the 2022 horror blockbuster, Smile, must be wearing a huge smile on his face right now as he has signed a multi-year first-run deal with Paramount Pictures. The first film he will make under the new deal is, of course, Smile 2.
Parker will also write, direct and produce a number of feature-length horror films for the studio. President and CEO of Paramount Brian Robbins said in a statement, “Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh cinema, and we’re thrilled he’ll make Paramount his home.”
Co-Chairmen of Paramount Film Group Michael Ireland AND Daria Cercek he added, “Parker knows how to keep people on the edge of their seats and we’re happy we can continue to scare audiences together.”
Smile was a fun horror film and was originally supposed to be released on Paramount+, but after overwhelmingly positive test screenings, the studio changed the plan and released it theatrically. Said Finn last year, “The audience was screaming at the screen, so it was very clear that the communal setting and its nature was incredible, and to Paramount’s credit, they recognized that and followed the film in a so amazing. .”
Now they’re all going to make beautifully awful movies together!
