On January 27, HBO Max renewed ‘The Last of Us’ for a second season which would adapt the second video game, ‘The Last of Us: Part II’. but if it was confirmed from the start that this was too long to squeeze the story into 9 more chapters, Now, moreover, its creators have confirmed that it will cover “more than one season”.

It was in an interview with GQ where Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann were asked about the future of the series, whereas the second game is longer, more complex and has more characters, flashbacks and action sequences: “We won’t say how many”Mazin says, “But more than one [temporada] is in fact correct”.
the forbidden word
Although Druckmann is one of the developers of the game, Mazin first played it in 2013 and was feeling a bit reticent because all he knew was that it was “of the zombies”, now a forbidden word. As Eben Bolter, the cinematographer, told Variety, the word starting with Z cannot be said about set: “They were Infected. We’re not a zombie show. Sure, there’s tension and shock, but the show is really about our characters; the Infected is one obstacle they have to deal with.”
“I’m still mad at Eben Bolters!”jokes Mazin, “I texted him saying ‘Eben! Has anyone banned any words anywhere?!’ And he was like, “That guy took it out of context!” But basically, it wasn’t my thing. A friend of mine, Chris Morgan, who did the “Fast & Furious” movies, said to me, “Man, no, you don’t get it.” So I get into the game and after about 10 minutes, I’m already like “what the hell is going on?” Not only is it not what I didn’t want to do, but it’s better than anything I wanted to do.”
In the interview, the creators talk about how they considered changing the ending of the series from the ending of the game, with Ellie and Joel walking towards Jackson, but not together, but not separated either. They ultimately decided to keep that close-up of Ellie where you don’t know what’s coming next: “You walk away from him, you walk with him, how does it feel? That moment is definitely suspended”describes Mazin, to which Druckmann adds “Obviously, there’s a moral ambiguity in that decision: Are people still rooting for Joel while he’s lying to Ellie’s face? But when we made the game, and the finale came, no one knew if we were going to make another game. So I think it was easier for people to accept that it’s not a suspense, it’s a fitting ending. Here, they might be like, “Oh, you left us wondering” since they know Season 2 is coming. It will be interesting to see if this means that the People have a different reaction. You can now watch the complete first season of ‘The Last of Us’ on HBO Max.
