The In Memoriam section of the Oscars held Sunday at the Dolby Theater created controversy for the absence of some important characters from the cinematic world in the reminder video. Mira Sorvino, actress and daughter of one of the forgotten, Paul Sorvino, shared her anger and indignation on social media.

First, on the night of the ceremony, he shared a video of his 1996 victory on Twitter, when the Academy awarded him the Oscar for ‘Mighty Aphrodite.’ The video in which we see how he embraces his father before going up to collect the award is accompanied by the sentence: “At least I remember dad on this night of the Oscars…”. Hours later, already on Monday, the actress posted again on Twitter, this time inserting an article from FORTHEWIN which talks about the absence of Paul Sorvino, adding: “It is baffling, as well as unbelievable, that my beloved father and so many other great deceased actors are left out. The Oscars forgot about Paul Sorvino, but we never will!” .

But Paul Sorvino was not the only one forgotten. Particularly striking were the absences of Sachen Littlefeatherm, who died Oct. 2, and whom the Academy honored last year for the 50th anniversary of Marlon Brando’s Oscar rejection for ‘The Godfather’; also that of Charlbi Dean, the protagonist of “El triángulo de la tristeza”, nominated in different categories, attracted attention and of course especially the Spaniards were hurt by the fact that Carlos Saura, nominated up to three times for an international Oscar, was not remembered for “Mama turns 100”, “Carmen” and “Tango”. There was also no mention of other people like Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore or Chaim Topol.

He studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and debuted on Broadway before transitioning to the big screen. Known for titles such as “Where’s Dad?”, “Goodfellas” or “Rocketeer” among many others, he will always be remembered for his tough guy performances or his mobster roles.
