Disney has released a new poster for its upcoming remake of The little Mermaidand introduces Ariel (Halle Bailey) sitting on a rock and looking up at the sky wishing to be a part of that world. The poster came with the announcement that the full trailer will debut during the Oscars this Sunday.

The film comes from the director Rob Marshalland this is the synopsis:
The beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and vivacious young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most rebellious, Ariel longs to know more about the world beyond the sea, and while she visits the surface, she falls in love with the handsome Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden from interacting with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the wicked sea witch, Ursula, that gives her the chance to experience life on land, but in the end she jeopardizes her life and her father’s crown.
The film also stars Jonah Hauer-Kingas Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy like Ursula, Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Snowpiercer) as Sebastian’s voice; Jacopo Tremblay (Luca) as the voice of Flounder; Awkwafina (Raya and the last dragon) as Scuttle’s voice; Malik art (Homeland) as Sir Grimsby; Name Dumezweni (Mary Poppins Returns) as Queen Selina; AND Javier Bardem (It’s no country for old men) as King Triton.
The film is expected to contain original songs from the 1989 animated blockbuster, as well as new tracks composed by Alan Menken and Digg Hamilton co-star Lin Manuel Miranda.
The little Mermaid will hit theaters on May 26, 2023.
