During a recent interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Campbell teases the film’s horror by saying it will disturb audiences and deliver the “real shit.” He shared:
“Lee Cronin has done a really astounding job. You can expect to be very disturbed. That’s when moms go bad. We dragged him out of the woods. We’re in an urban environment, which gives it a really gnarly feel. I think people are in trouble.Sorry to the audience in advance!
Campbell went on to compare this film to the 2013 reboot directed by Faith Alvarezsaid:
“Both filmmakers are equally capable individuals, so they both really spanked it. It’s not a yuk-fest. It’s not hardy-har-har. It’s not Ash shooting guns. These guys have taken it really seriously. Lee Cronin is Irish and he brings a sort of European vibe to this thing.”
The actor and producer went on to talk about how he and his collaborators were involved and heavily invested in the film’s development:
“Last year I spent a month and a half in Europe for post-production and all the sound. We kind of split the tasks. I like being involved in casting and post-production. Rob Tapert oversees production in New Zealand. And Sam Raimi is the Big Poobah. He’s the orchestrator. He makes sure he fits the Evil Dead mold.”
Campbell later teased the film’s special effects, saying:
“No one will ever make fun of Evil Dead’s special effects as long as I’m alive. They liked doing it; effects like a ball of cheese, garden hoses spewing stuff,” admitted the director. “Well, you know what? Eat it up, bitches, because this is good stuff you’re about to see!”
In the film, “a road-weary Beth pays a belated visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three children alone in a cramped Los Angeles apartment. The sisters’ reunion is interrupted by the discovery of a mysterious book deep within Ellie’s building, which gives rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusts Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood. imaginable.”
The film was directed by Lee Croninand was also produced by Sam Raimi. Raimi previously teased that the film will be “terrifying” and “make people lose their minds”. Campbell said so too The Rise of the Evil Dead it will be a “much more heartbreaking” experience emotionally, and you can feel it in this trailer!
The film is the protagonist Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) AND Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock).Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davis (end), AND Nell Fisher (Splendid isolation). The Rise of the Evil Dead is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023.
