One of the best Darth Vader scenes ever Star Wars the project was presented Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That scene sent shivers down everyone’s spine Star Wars fans who saw it!
The scene is set aboard a rebel ship, where a group of rebels are trying to escape with plans for the Death Star. Suddenly, the lights go out and the sound of heavy breathing fills the air. Darth Vader has arrived and he’s pissed.
As the Rebels frantically try to pass plans to one another, Darth Vader begins furiously tearing his way through the ship, brutally felling anyone in his path with his lightsaber. Tensions build as the rebels desperately try to get the floors to safety.
Just when it seems all is lost, a Rebel manages to slip the plans through a small opening in the ship’s door, just in time to escape Vader’s wrath.
The scene is a masterclass in building tension and showcases the raw power of Darth Vader. Well, according to Star Wars: Rebels voice actor Freddie Prinze Jr., that scene was directed by Dave Filoni! While it appears on Lights, camera, stoolPrinze Jr., admits he may not be allowed to disclose this information, but he dropped the information anyway.
Prinze Jr. says Filoni also said Filoni recast the actor under the Darth Vader suit because “Darth Vader doesn’t talk with his hands, but this one clearly does.”
That’s quite the reveal, and it makes perfect sense why that scene ended up being so damn awesome! Filoni didn’t say anything about it, but if he didn’t have to say anything maybe it was a secret. Filoni will definitely be asked about this in future interviews, so it will be interesting to see what he has to say about it.
Filoni is considered the successor of George Luke’ Star Wars because of their collaboration on The Clone Wars AND Rebels. Filoni didn’t transition into live-action Star Wars projects until The Mandalorian came along. But it seems like he got his chance to direct the live action earlier with this scene in Rogue One.
