‘The Penguin’, spin-off of ‘The Batman’ with Colin Farrell that we will see on HBO Max, signs Clancy Brown (“Dexter: New Blood”) as Salvatore Maroniprominent Gotham mobster.

According to Deadline, Brown is joining the cast of this series produced by Dylan Clark, Farrell and Matt Reeves, promoter of the new Batverse of the DC Universe, a television drama that also has Lauren LeFranc, Craig Zobel and Bill Carraro as executive producers. LeFranc writes and serves as showrunner, with Zobel directing the first three episodes.
Reeves himself said that “The Penguin” plays a crucial role in the development of his Batverse because “there’s a whole tapestry of things” what do you want to do. “The way we are developing ‘The Penguin’ is about how it will lead us towards the sequel and what the second chapter will be like.”he says, alluding to ‘The Batman II,’ in which we’ll see Robert Pattinson again as the vigilante.
Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Deirdre O’Connell complete the cast of this Series of 8 episodes that does not yet have a release date.

Clancy Brown will play Salvatore Maroni, a powerful mob boss in Gotham City. gangster and enemy of Batman known for disfiguring Harvey Dent aka Two-Face (played on the big screen by Tommy Lee Jones in ‘Batman Forever’, or Aaron Eckhart in ‘The Dark Knight’).
In other live action proposals, Maroni was played by Dennis Paladino in the aforementioned ‘Batman Forever’ and Eric Roberts in ‘The Dark Knight’. Furthermore, this would not be the first television appearance of the character since we have been able to see him in “Gotham” at the hands of David Zayas.
