We recently shared how JJ Abrams he is enthusiastic Star Trek 4 and what the creative team has come up with, what they feel, is a compelling story. He said: “It’s the first time [since the original reboot] that we have a story that feels as compelling as the first one.
WELL, Star Trek star Chris Pino has a very different view of the Star Trek film franchise, and he’s very frustrated with it. In a new interview with Esquire, the actor explained that he believes the franchise is cursed, saying:
“After the last one came out and didn’t make the billion dollars that everyone wanted it to, and then Anton, [Yelchin, who played Chekov] he’s dead, I don’t know, it just seemed…” He added later that the franchise “feels cursed”.
Pine went on to share that he knows nothing Star Trek 4the future. He said, “In the land of Star Trek, actors are usually the last people to find out. I know costume designers who read the scripts before the actors.”
He went on to talk about his frustration, saying, “I’d say it’s frustrating. It doesn’t really promote the ultimate sense of partnership, but that’s how it’s always been. I love the character. I love the people. I love the franchise. But to try and change the system in which things are created, I just can’t do it. I don’t have the energy.”
I can see why he’s frustrated! Abrams and Paramount had been trying for years to get a fourth Star Trek film off the ground, but it never really gained momentum.
