JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4 Director says fight scene between Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen is ‘something we’ve never seen before’

One of the most exciting aspects of John Wick: Chapter 4 and this Donnie Yen has joined the cast and that we will see him fight Keanu Reeves! Donnie Yen is one of the toughest martial arts action stars working today, and seeing him join the John Wick franchise is so damn good!

Now director Chad Stahelski he’s teasing the fight sequence between Reeves and Yen that they wanted to do something we’ve never seen before. The fight choreography team was really looking to step up and take the talents of these two actors to the next level:

“So, it always boils down to, I can do the Donnie Yen triple kick. I can do all of that, but you also want to do something different. So, you start sitting down, you come in character, and you have a lot of discussions with guys who are like, ‘Okay, Donnie’s great at this.’ Keanu is great at this. They’re both great actors, so let’s lean on that and do something we’ve never seen before.’

So what did they do to up the ante with this fight scene? Stahelsky said:

So now, that Donnie Yen with a sword and a gun and Keanu with a samurai sword and a couple of guns and throwing an AR-15 and a glass mirror room with Japanese artifacts. And yes, add a couple of dogs and see what happens.

Well shit… can’t wait to see what happens! Looks like this fight sequence is going to be awesome!

The cast for John Wick: Chapter 4 also includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Clancy Brown, Ian McShane, AND Bill Skarsgard as the sinister main villain.

The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2023.
