Muscles become magic this April with the anime series MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLE

Are you looking for a new magic school adventure? How about one that is an anime? This April, Crunchyroll will be releasing Mashle: magic and muscles which is an adaptation of the manga by Hajime Komoto. I have read some chapters of Mashle, and it’s really fun. The idea is that the main character Mash lives in a magical world, but has no magical powers. However, he works like crazy and is able to find ways to use his body in ways that appear to use magic to protect him from those who do not accept non-magical users. He definitely has similar vibes to A man with a fist.

This is a world where magic is used randomly by everyone.

In a deep and dark forest in this world of magic, there is a boy who is training with determination.

Her name is Mash Burnedead and she has a secret. He can’t use magic.

All he wanted was to live a peaceful life with his family but one day suddenly people start trying to kill him and somehow he finds himself enrolled in Magic School. There, he aims to become a “Divine Visionary”, the elite of the elite.

Will his ripped muscles work against the wizarding world’s best and brightest?

The curtain rises on this misplaced magical fantasy where the power of being kidnapped crushes any spell!

I am excited to watch the anime for Mashle. A-1 Pictures is animating and producing the series with Tomonari Tanaka directing it. Additional credits include series composition and screenwriting by Yosuke Kuroda (My academic hero), character design by Hisashi Higashijimadirection of action of Takeshi Matsuda (Naruto Shippuden: The Will of Fire) AND Hiroaki Goda (Evangelion: 1.0 You are (not) alone), artistic direction of Yusa Ito (Sword Art Online the movie -Progressive- Aria of a starless night), and music composed by Masaru Yokoyama (Your lie in April). The announced Japanese voice cast can be found below.

• Chiaki Kobayashi (Yuichi Katagiri in Tomodachi Game) as Mash Burnedead, a rare young man who cannot use magic. Though he crushes all kinds of magic with his well-trained muscles, he lacks common sense and tends to do as he pleases. He loves beignets.

• Reiji Kawashima (Fushi in To Your Eternity) as Finn Ames, Mash’s roommate in the dorm. He is the straight man (tsukkomi) of their antics and Mash’s first friend.

• Kaito Ishikawa (Tenya Iida in My Hero Academia) as Lance Crown, a good-looking young man who placed first among the transfer exam students. He has considerable magical power and is best in class in academic performance.

• Takuya Eguchi (Loid Forger in SPY x FAMILY) as Dot Barrett, an impulsive and loud young man. He’s the unpopular dude with a strong hatred for good-looking guys.

• Reina Ueda (Kisa Soma in 2019’s Fruits Basket) as Lemon Irvine, has had a crush on Mash ever since he helped her through her transfer exams. She is imaginative to say the least.
