HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloys recently revealed in an interview with Variety that the highly anticipated HBO revivals True blood AND Six feet below they are no longer happening. Some fans have been waiting for these new revivals, but I’m actually kind of glad the projects have been cancelled.

According to Bloys, there has never been any serious discussion of a Six feet below rebirth. However, there was a plan for a True blood revival that was actually in development, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Bloys revealed that while a few scripts were being written, none seemed to hit the mark.
True bloodpremiered in 2008, is based on Charlaine Harrisof the Southern Vampire Mysteries novel series. The show follows telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse, played by Anna Paquin, as she navigates treacherous vampire politics in rural Louisiana. Alongside Paquin, the show also starred Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Alexander Skarsgard, Lizzy Caplan, Deborah Ann Wolland many others.
In the meantime, six feet below, premiered in 2001, starred Peter Krausa, Michael C. Sala, Frances Conroy, Lauren Ambrose, Freddie Rodriguez, and more. The show revolved around the Fisher family, who owned a funeral home, and dealt with the ups and downs of life and death. This is one of my favorite shows of all time and has my favorite ending ever for a TV series.
I’m sure this could be disappointing news for fans of both series who have been dying to revisit their favorite characters and stories. But I think they made the right decision.
