Actor Penn Badgley says Jesse Pinkman role in BREAKING BAD was what got away from him

Actor Penn Badleybest known for his roles in the series Gossip Girl AND You, has had a solid career so far, picking hit series and making a name for himself. But just like many of his fellow actors, Badgley says there was one role he almost landed that was really the one that eluded him.

breaking Bad it was a phenomenon of a TV series that many people consider a perfect show or an all-time favorite. The series followed Walter White, played by the Academy Award nominee and multiple Emmy winner Bryan Cranston, a high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with cancer, who decides to make and sell methamphetamine to pay for treatment and leave his family with a nestegg. She recruits one of her students to help him move the product, and the duo went on to five seasons and a movie to craft a captivating story.

While we all know Aaron Paul as the actor who played Walter White’s student Jesse Pinkman, it turns out the role almost went to Penn Badgley. The actor recently told Buzzfeed:

“One that I came close to was Breaking Bad. It was between me and Aaron Paul, we tested. Actually, that was the best TV script I’d read at that point. It was the one that walked away.”

I can see how it came to those two. Badgley is the same age and is a very good actor. I love Aaron Paul in the role, though, and I can’t imagine anyone else playing it as well as he does. Gossip Girl it ended up airing its premiere a year earlier breaking Bad started, so Badgley wasn’t out of work for long. And he continued to play a darker role with his hit series on Netflix You. So we can’t feel too bad for him. And I’m sure he’ll have many interesting roles in his future.
