Keanu Reeves has a clause in his contracts that he can’t be manipulated digitally

Keanu Reeves has been around for many decades and is known for its work on Bill and Ted, The matrix, John Wick and much more. He is known for his acting range and warm demeanor of him always treating fans and passers-by with kindness but now we have an interesting trivia about him regarding his acting contract.

Reeves has an interesting clause written into his contract regarding his likeness, where his performance cannot be manipulated without his permission. In a recent interview with Wired, Reeves was asked about the clause and explained:

Yes, digitally. I don’t care if someone blinks during an edit. But early on, in the early 2000s, or maybe it was the 90s, my performance changed. [He won’t say which.] They added a tear to my face and I was like, “Huh?!” It was like I shouldn’t even be here.

When asked how he felt as an actor about deepfake technology, he replied:

The frustrating thing is that you lose your agency. When you give a performance in a film, you know you’re going to be edited, but you’re participating in it. If you go to deepfake land, it has none of your views. It’s scary. It will be interesting to see how humans handle these technologies. They’re having such a cultural and sociological impact, and the species is being studied. There is so much “data” about behaviors now. Technologies are finding a place in our education, our medicine, our entertainment, our politics, the way we wage war and the way we work.

It’s good that Reeves has a say in how his visuals and performances are handled, so there are no more surprises, especially as this type of technology is advancing.
