‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Emotional tribute to Ellen Pompeo in her 19 seasons as Meredith Gray before leaving the series

What will become of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ without Ellen Pompeo? The character of Meredith Gray has accompanied the series since its inception in 2005 for almost 400 episodes, but all good things come to an end and this end is just around the corner. We will see the doctor as the protagonist for the last time in the seventh episode of season 19, titled ‘I’ll Follow the Sun’which can be seen on the ABC channel on February 23, although it is not yet certain when it will arrive in Spain via Disney +, where all the episodes are currently available but which is usually delayed compared to the United States.

In honor of the show’s longest-running character, ABC has created a video compilation of Dr. Gray’s best moments set in the Snow Patrol song “Chasing Cars.” The video alternates the most iconic parts of his career, with dances, kisses, laughter and tears. Pompeo, who has produced the last three seasons, also lends his voice to remind us of everything he experienced in the hospital. “This is where I learned to be a doctor”we hear from Meredith Gray. “This is the place where I fell in love. The place where I found my family”. She is joined in the video by some of the show’s biggest actors and actresses including Sandra Oh, Patrick Dempsey, TR Knight, Katherine Heigl and Kate Walsh.

The showrunner of the series, Krista Vernoff, took care of the last farewell of Meredith Grey, which they justified in the storyline with a move from Seattle to Boston to find a cure for Alzheimer’s along with Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), who has also left the series in 2021. Many characters have left the series, but many have also returned as guests. We can imagine that it won’t be the last time we see Meredith Gray in the corridors of Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital., perhaps helping his fellow students in need in some future episode, or even as a patient?
