Stephen KingThe classic terrifying horror story Children of the grain is getting a new adaptation and we have a redband trailer here for you to watch today! The film comes from RLJE Films and the AMC network horror streaming service Shudder, and it looks like an interesting and different take on the story.
This film serves as a prequel and the synopsis reads: “Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, 12-year-old Eden recruits the other children of her small town to riot and take control. Tired of having to pay the price for the children’s mistakes their parents, Eden leads the children on a bloody rampage, killing the adults and anyone who opposes her. With all the adults imprisoned or dead, she is reduced to a high schooler who won’t accept the plan and becomes the only hope for survival of the city. Based on the Stephen King short story, Children of the Corn is a chilling new retelling for a whole new generation.”
The original movie scared the shit out of me when I was growing up. Children rebelling against their parents and killing them in the name of a cornfield demon is really horrible! The trailer for this one definitely tries hard to let people know that this is going to be a screwed up movie. Sure, I’m interested in watching it, and while I’m sure it’ll be entertaining, I don’t expect it to be a great movie.
The film was directed by Kurt Wimmer and the cast includes Elena Kampouris (Before I fall), Kate Moyer (Station Eleven), Callan Mulvey (The gray man) AND Bruce Spence (The road warrior).
The film will hit theaters on March 3 before hitting On Demand and Digital on March 21. The film marks the eleventh entry in the franchise.
