Now more than ever, Netflix has to bet on content that attracts and retains its subscribers. For this they have announced that they are already working on a true-crime documentary based on one of the most obscure and disturbing religious sects of the United States in the recent history of the country. It’s about the siege of Waco.

In March, Netflix will premiere ‘Waco: American Apocalypse’, a true crime documentary that will be one of the platform’s big bets to keep its subscribers happy. It is a story of 51 days of siege on one of the religious sects that has caused the most talk in the country, and which will be headed by Tiller Russel, the same director of ‘Night Stalker’.

The documentary of ‘Waco: American Apocalypse’ opens March 22 on Netflix, just 30 years after David Koresh’s cult siege. In American history, it is considered the largest armed confrontation since the Civil War, which took place on February 28, 1993.

It all started when the FBI and several security agencies took action regarding the matter case of the sect founded by David Koresh, who called themselves the Branch Davidians, accused of illegal use and possession of weapons, as well as sexual abuse and other crimes. In “Waco: American Apocalypse” everything that happened during those 51 days will be explored.

The Religious Cult Siege of Waco on Netflix

Arrived at the place where the sect was located, the head of the group, Koresh, convinced all his followers not to let the agents pass. Such was the response that a battle began which lasted 51 days, and which ended when three fires began to spread within the Davidic buildings themselves, forcing them to abandon the place.

What’s remarkable about the case is that it’s not the first time it’s been brought to the screen. However, what is really interesting is that the director had access to the recordings of the FBI Negotiation Center agents themselves, which are never before revealed images. As well as interviews with survivors of the siege and with one of the cult leader’s wives.

‘Waco: American Apocalypse’ will be released on March 22 and will have three episodes, approximately half and 50 minutes. Therefore, if you are a fan of documentaries or stories about religious sects, you cannot miss one of the great titles that Netflix has for the next month.
