The time has come, now, Netflix begins its fight against shared accounts to eradicate them completely. But in order not to leave the platform, the company has announced the new rules so that these measures are a little less restrictive and how they will be implemented throughout the entire streaming service.
With over 100 million people enjoying your content without paying a single cent, Netflix wants to close shared accounts, and eliminate the “Love is sharing the password” philosophy that was once a priority in the company. After several confusions on the subject in recent days, the streaming giant has released a statement on the matter.
The company of Red Hastings and Marc Randolph has just announced it if you want to use a shared Netflix account, you will have to pay. Starting on February 8, 2023, the new measures will begin to apply in countries such as Canada, Spain, New Zealand and Portugal. In these territories, Netflix’s new strategy will be tested, which will subsequently begin to spread to the rest of the world.
THE new Netflix features to avoid account sharing allow you to change primary location settings, add extra subscribers to an account, manage logins and devices, transfer profiles, and finally the ability to see all the platform’s content while on the go, such as ‘Merlina’, ‘Stranger Things’, and so on.

Netflix’s new measures
To start working this out, setting your primary location forces Netflix subscribers to add a primary home, which will be the basis for the new mechanics, so the address you select will prevent sharing your account with people outside your home. Now a new feature has also been added, where subscribers can be added to the same account.
That is to say, only Standard and Premium plan subscribers can add sub accounts to avoid the extra payment. While the Basic and Basic with Ads plans will be required to pay for people away from home. This is where the management of access and devices associated with the account comes into play, in a section that allows you to control who can use that account.
Finally, Netflix also allows the transfer of profiles, with which you can keep your preferences, history, among other things, to be able to transfer the profile to a paid account. And finally, enjoy your content on the go by eliminating the need to be in the main location and simply access from any TV or device.
