In the midst of all of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s recent announcements at DC Comics, it was confirmed that “The Batman 2” is still in development and will have no connection to the new phase of the DC Universe. With this in mind, now Colin Farrell has revealed how many episodes will have the series of “The Penguin”, the first spin-off within the universe directed by Matt Reeves.
During an interview with Variety (via Collider), Colin Farrell has revealed how many episodes it will have ‘The Penguin’, the series for HBO Max whose story will directly connect with the events we will see in ‘The Batman – Part 2’. While the Matt Reeves film is set for the year 2025, there’s currently no release date for the spinoff, but it could be said to arrive before then.
in speech, Colin Farrell has confirmed that ‘The Penguin’ will have 8 episodes: “It will be an eight-part project about Oz’s rise to power, filling the power vacuum created when Falcone was killed. Matt’s idea was for the Penguin series to start about a week after the Batman movie ended. And if it works, if the trajectory is interesting, and the audience accepts it, and we do our job well, Penguin’s second appearance will pick up where the HBO series left off.”
Alike, Matt Reeves said so ‘The Penguin’ it could last 8 hours, and while he hasn’t confirmed the number of episodes, this gives us the idea that each chapter could be around an hour long. Which would suggest that it is a blockbuster on the same level as the film starring Robert Pattinson.

What will the story of “The Penguin” be about?
As Farrell mentions, the idea is that ‘The Penguin’ ties directly into the sequel to ‘The Batman’. Just like the series will do with the first part. The story is set a week after Falcone’s murder, where Gotham City is left without its leader of organized crime, and there are now many names looking to claim that position.
It is then that Oswald Cobblepot enters, who wants to take the place of his former boss, but enters Sophia Falcone, daughter of John Turturro’s character, who will play Cristin Milioti. Additionally, other villains have also been seen wanting the position, though it’s unknown if Selina Kyle, who is also Turturro’s parent, will get into the power play.
It is worth mentioning that Matt Reeves himself has said that he will oversee ‘The Penguin’ and the entire ‘The Batman’ universe, although he will only devote himself to being the director of the main films. The series still doesn’t have a release date on HBO Max, while the Dark Knight sequel will run until 2025.
