James Gunn Lashes Out at the SnyderVerse: ‘It’s Been a Really Messy Ride for DC’

At a press conference where James Gunn and Peter Safran, directors of DC Studios, presented their plan for superhero movies and series for the next 10 years, the director behind ‘Peacemaker’ spoke about the past of this company and clarified that to give it a new direction it was necessary to restructure what others had attempted to do in the past, in reference to the so-called SnyderVerse.

For many years, Zack Snyder has been behind several DC movie trying to do what Marvel has been building for more than a decade, and it’s no secret that the result ended up being heavily criticized by audiences and failing to make the connections needed to bring a solid universe to cinemas. Something James Gunn ultimately intends to do.

James Gunn points out that DC’s problem was that “There was never any real power given to the people in charge, so someone could always go over their head and do whatever they wanted,” which points to the way Zack Snyder he tried to take over the overall story reins but never became the director or president of the studio.

Regarding his new role as director of DC Studios, James Gunn confesses that this “has been a challenge, but I think it’s an opportunity to create something really wonderful with these characters,” so they are thrilled that their plans can resulting in a well-constructed and successful story in both film and television.

DC fans want Zack Snyder and James Gunn fired back

Although James Gunn has revealed that he has big plans for the future of DC Studios, fans have not received his ideas very well on social networks, where the hashtag #FireJamesGunn has become a trend, thus demanding the dismissal of this director so for Warner Bros to bring back Zack Snyder.

However, Zack Snyder has started working on other issues and projects and is currently a long way from taking over a DC film, let alone a studio position, so James Gunn is free to do as he pleases and his partner Peter Safran decides, in order to give the franchise a new direction and lead it to success once and for all.
