Cast of ‘Groundhog Day’: Then and now

Let’s try again… February 2nd means it’s another Groundhog Day. While many see Punxsutawney Phil’s shadow as a winter forecast, others will celebrate with a screening of the 1993 comedy classic. groundhog dayhero Bill Murray. In the film, Bill plays a cynical TV weatherman who finds himself trapped in a time loop, forcing him to relive the day over and over again. Eventually he falls in love with his producer Rita, played by andie macdowell, and tries to find out if he can use the time trap to seduce her. No spoilers… things really don’t go as planned.

The film was a box office success, grossing over $105 million to become one of the biggest box office hits of 1993. groundhog day it also received a BAFTA nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
